Here are the top three stories in Blacksburg today:

  1. Virginia Tech pitcher Drue Hackenberg has been a key player in the recent impressive performance of the Virginia Tech baseball team. Hackenberg pitched six innings against Georgia Tech and only took two hits when Virginia Tech went up against Duke University. Hackenberg credits his success to his mindset: "You gotta have confidence at all times." Virginia Tech is in the running to finish first in the east coast division. (Virginia Tech Collegiate Times)
  2. Students and community members with Virginia Tech's United Feminist Movement (UFM) held the United Feminist Movement's annual Take Back the Night rally on Wednesday, Apr. 26. The rally included live music, a series of speakers, and a campus march. Jenna Malyn, a junior marketing and business management major, and the communications chair for UFM, said, "It's an extremely widespread issue ... I think this does a great job of putting it into perspective: the crime alert emails that you receive - like, you receive a lot of those emails, and it's important to understand that those are only things that occur on Virginia Tech campus, so anything that occurs downtown or at an apartment complex is not even counted on those emails." (Virginia Tech Collegiate Times)
  3. Two new homes are for sale in the Blacksburg area. The listing for 323 Sheliah Ct. reveals it is a 1,827 square-foot, 3-bed, 4-bath home listed by Austin Cummings at Gravity Real Estate Group, inc. The home at 512 Seminole Dr. is a 4,739 square foot, 4-bed, 4-bath home listed by the New River Valley Association of Realtors. (Blacksburg Patch)
