  1. The Town of Blacksburg announced that water services will be interrupted for residents of the Tall Oaks Drive neighborhood on Tuesday, Mar. 14. At 9 a.m., crews will be installing a fire hydrant in the 2800 Block of Tall Oaks Drive. As a result, residents from 2800 to 6100 blocks will experience brief water outages. (WFXRtv.com)
  2. The Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting its Annual Summer Camp Fair on Wednesday, Mar. 15, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Blacksburg Community Center. Parents will have the chance to learn about the camp and activity opportunities with a variety of vendors. The Camp Fair is free and open to the public to attend. (NRV News)
  3. Virginia Tech softball, ranked No. 11, extended its winning streak to eight games with a 4-1 win over North Carolina on Friday, Mar. 10. Scoring four runs and holding the Tar Heels to one, the Hokies spoiled UNC's chance at winning its first matchup of the season. The game was a pitchers' duel for nearly the entirety of the game.   • Temperatures will average 10-15 degrees below normal over the next week or so and indicating that this colder-than-normal pattern will likely continue right through most of the remainder of Mar. in Blacksburg. Sunday, Mar. 12, consisted of a mixed bag of snow and sleet and will continue this week as it goes as far east as the Blue Ridge. (US National Weather Service Blacksburg VA via Facebook)
  • On Saturday, Mar. 18, Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. is hosting its Free Family Film Fest at the Lyric Theatre. The Boxtrolls (in the town of Cheesebridge!) start playing at 10 a.m. to kick off the festival. After the screening, bring your tickets to Benny's for a slice of cheese pizza with a canned drink for only $5. (Downtown Blacksburg)
  • The 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships drew to a close as the Virginia Tech Hokies tallied up 10 All-American honors. The team placed 28 overall, acquiring seven points total. The Hokies end the indoor season with two first-team All-Americans and eight second-team honors. (Virginia Tech Athletics)
