Here are the top three stories in Blacksburg today:
- Over the weekend, several agencies, including the Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, searched Shenandoah National Park for Mateo Cobo Zevallos, a missing 21-year-old George Mason University Student. His gray Honda was found in the national park parking lot after he was reported missing. Trails were closed as agencies searched through the park. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact law enforcement. (WUSA 9)
- Blacksburg is in the midst of its first-ever Bikesburg festival! Bikesburg will run until May 26. Downtown businesses are participating and will stamp passports for participants that bike to the business. Several bike-themed events are also happening around town, including bike yoga, gear swaps, and more. To see a detailed calendar and schedule, visit the Bikesburg page here. (WDBJ)
- Calling creative people of all ages! The Blacksburg Government is looking for artwork and projects created by community members that address the topic of "My Hand-in-Hand." The artwork should visually demonstrate what a Hand-in-Hand playground means to community members. Submitted work will be displayed during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. To enter, drop off submissions at the Community Relations Office. (Blacksburg Government)
