The story walks through how the recount worked, what it cost, and how both candidates and local observers emphasized fairness, transparency, and the importance of every Blacksburg vote in shaping town leadership and infrastructure priorities.

2. Jennifer M. Taimi (state-journal.com) — Friends and Hokies alike will note that Jennifer Taimi cherished her time at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg so much that it shaped where she chose to live and work. This warm remembrance highlights her career in Kentucky state government, deep love for animals and family, and the many creative ways she cared for others during her long illness. Donations in her honor are suggested in lieu of flowers.

3. ETSU women come from 19 points down to defeat UNC-Asheville 63-53 (wjhl.com) — East Tennessee State’s women’s basketball team stormed back from 19 points down to beat UNC-Asheville 63–53, then immediately turned its focus to a Sunday trip to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech. Local hoops fans can expect the Bucs, led by standout scorer Anala Nelson, to arrive with serious momentum after their dominant fourth-quarter performance.

4. Caldwell, Lary Walker (nrvnews.com) — Blacksburg readers are noting the passing of Lary Walker Caldwell, who was born in Blacksburg and later lived in Wytheville.
