• Virginia State Police continue investigation into pedestrian death (montcova.com) — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Blacksburg where a town police SUV, running lights and siren to a structure fire, struck and killed 22-year-old pedestrian Spencer Davis Woodson Forsling on North Main Street. Findings will be turned over to the Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney for review once the investigation is complete.
   

• Blacksburg Town Council rejects six-story apartment building proposal (wdbj7.com) — Blacksburg Town Council has rejected a six-story, 820-bedroom apartment proposal on University City Boulevard, citing traffic, pedestrian safety, and the loss of commercially zoned land. The project would have added about 200 units, including at least 37 affordable apartments, across from University Mall. Some leaders, including the mayor, warned the town still must address Virginia Tech–driven housing demand.
