2nd Annual Fire Drill 5K Coming To Burke Lake Park In May

Registration is now open for the Burke Volunteer Fire Rescue Department's the 2nd Annual Fire Drill 5K/1M at Burke Lake Park on May 6.

BURKE, VA — The Burke Volunteer Fire Rescue Department is holding the 2nd Annual Fire Drill 5K/1M at Burke Lake Park on May 6.

All race participants will receive a commemorative race shirt and finisher medal. Runners must register by April 11 to be guaranteed a shirt and medal.

Fire dog Sparky will be at the race, along with the BVFRD fire engine. People who don’t want to walk or run, but want to support the event in other ways, can sign up as a race sponsor or donate money by visiting the race’s online 5K Sponsorship Form.

All proceeds from the race will go to train and equip members of the BVFRD.

The race will take place on Saturday, May 6 at 8 a.m. at Shelter A at Burke Lake Park. Online registration is open and will close on Thursday, May 4 at 8 p.m.

The race is being managed by Potomac River Running, which has a running store at 5715 Burke Centre Pkwy. in Burke.
