70-Year-Old Woman Dies After Getting Struck In Braddock Road Crosswalk
A 70-year-old woman died Dec. 4 from injuries she received when an SUV crashed into her while she was crossing Braddock Road in a crosswalk.

BURKE, VA — A 70-year-old woman died on Dec. 4 from injuries she received when an SUV crashed into her while she was crossing Braddock Road in a crosswalk on Nov. 15, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
Ly Tran of Springfield was crossing Braddock Road from south to north within the crosswalk when Willy Vaca Cardozo, 33, of Fairfax made a right turn from Kings Park Drive onto eastbound Braddock Road and struck Tran, police said. Cardoza was driving a 2012 Toyota Rav4.
Tran was taken to the hospital for injuries originally not considered life-threatening, police said. But due to the injuries, she died on Dec. 4.

Cardozo was charged the day of the crash with failing to yield to pedestrians with the right of way. Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, police said.
