A Letter to the Editor from Col. Silas Burke
Col. Silas Burke, a.k.a. Jon Vrana, president of the Burke Historical Society, reflects on the 35th annual Burke Centre Festival.

I wish to report to residents of Burke, Virginia that I, Col. Silas Burke, had the opportunity to meet with a number of the residents of our humble village of Burke at the Burke Centre Festival. While the community has grown a bit since I last had the opportunity of visiting my home, there are a number of farms and homes of friends, such as the Coffers, that I still recognize.
Though I was not acquainted with a number of families that I visited with, I did sense and was extremely pleased with the continuing friendly, caring, and sharing attitude of the Burke residents, something that I have always found to be evident in this area, since first arriving here from Prince William County in 1824 and when I built my house on the hill above Pohick Creek Valley.

By the number of visitors that stopped and talked with myself, as well as Joshua and Huldah Coffer, and others of the Burke Historical Society, it is quite apparent that the residents of this area, be they long-time or recent, have a very great interest in learning of Burke's history.
Your Humble Servant,
Col. Silas Burke
