Beloved Burke Dad Remembered As Being 'Always There With Our Family'

BURKE, VA— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Burke, meet Michael Daniel Foley.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Corazon Sandoval Foley who nominated Michael Daniel Foley of Burke.

What makes your dad extra special?

My husband Michael Daniel Foley was a special human being, very kind and generous to his family, and very nurturing of his son Joshua Daniel and daughter Melinda Corazon — and then his grandchildren Daniel Padraig and Ciara Kathleen. He died last year on April 12, 2022 and my daughter Melinda posted on Facebook the letter that she has cherished for many years as he expressed his deep love and admiration for her guts (noting that he would have found difficult the career road that she has chosen as a writer in Los Angeles).

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

My husband Michael Daniel Foley was always there with our family — win or lose in all our life pursuits — and he always said that we will all get through together in all life difficulties. He was principled, loyal and smart —a quintessentially American dad and very inspirational head of our Foley family of our Burke, VA hometown.
