Burglar Attempts to Enter Burke Home with Keys Left in Unlocked Car: Police

Police: Man tried to enter home using keys he stole from an unlocked car parked out front. See story for description of suspect, location.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Police say a man attempted to enter a home Monday with keys he stole out of an unlocked car in Burke.

The incident took place Monday afternoon at about 3:22 p.m. in the 5800 block of Banning Place in Burke (see map below).

A resident reported that someone took the keys from an unlocked car in front of the home and unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into the home, according to police.

The suspect was described by police as a white male, 30-40 years old, around 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He had short hair, blondish/gray, possibly balding. He was wearing a red shirt, police said.
