Burke Civil Air Patrol Participates In Memorial Day Observance
The Burke Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol participated in the Burke Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5412's Memorial Day observance.

BURKE, VA — The Burke Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol participated in the Burke Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5412’s annual Memorial Day observance on Monday at the Burke Centre Conservancy.
Chuck Sleeper, VFW Post 5412 commander, provided the observance dedication and placed a memorial wreath next to the military service monument at the conservancy.
Guest speakers for the observance included Donald Loren, retired rear admiral in the U.S. Navy, and Burke Composite Squadron Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Audrey Edwards, who spoke about the history and meaning of Memorial Day.

Elected officials who provided Memorial Day remarks included Del. Eileen Filler-Corn, former speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates; Braddock District Supervisor James Walkinshaw; and state Sen. David Marsden, who represents the 37th District.
At the end of the observance, VFW bugler Terry Bradley played Taps and Civil Air Patrol Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Ethan Edwards and Audrey Edwards sang America the Beautiful and Amazing Grace.
