Burke Employee Wins Award, Controversial Library Program Suspended
Five things you need to know in Burke today.

Happy Friday, Burke! Here's a quick list of five things to keep in mind as you look forward to the weekend.
- In case you missed it, the Fairfax County Library Board of Trustees voted Wednesday night to suspend a controversial pilot program that would reduce staffing and make additional changes to libraries across the county, in particular the Burke Centre Library. Read all about the decision.
- There will be 10 new homes built in the Braddock District since the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a rezoning application Tuesday from Evergreene Companies to build the homes in the Braddock District Tuesday. Read more on Patch.
- There will be a garage sale on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Westwood Manor Court. Details here.
- Massage Envy Sales Associate Jonas Whatley was recently recognized as the 2013 Massage Envy Sales Associate of the Year, according to this recent post on the community boards. Whatley works at Massage Envy's Burke location.
