Burke Fire Department Hosts Fire Drill 5K At Burke Lake Park
Burke Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department is hosting the first ever Fire Drill 5K/1M on Sunday, May 1 at Burke Lake Park.
BURKE, VA — Burke Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department is hosting the first Fire Drill 5K/1M on Sunday, May 1 at Burke Lake Park.
The 5K starts at 8 a.m. on Sunday, with packet pickup at Potomac River Running in Burke from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. On race day, registration and packet pickup begins at 7 a.m.
The forecast shows temperatures in the 50s Sunday morning, perfect for running through the shade and the sun in Burke Lake Park.

The race is serving as a fundraiser for the Burke Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, which serves Burke, Fairfax, Fairfax Station, Springfield and Annandale. Funds raised from the Fire Drill 5K will help support equipment and training at the fire station.
The race will start at Pavilion A in Burke Lake Park at 7315 Ox Road in Fairfax Station.

For the 5K, registration fees are $40 through 8 p.m. on April 29 and $45 during packet pickup on Saturday at Potomac River Running at 5715 Burke Centre Pkwy in Burke and on race day. The 1M Fun Run fee is $30 through 8 p.m. on April 29 and $35 during packet pick up and on race day.
All race participants will receive a commemorative race shirt and finisher medal. Awards will be given to the overall top 3 male and female finishers as well as the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups: 16 and under, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 and over.
