The salon will offer free beauty treatments for three hours on Saturday, which is National Honey Bee Day.

Burke hair salon Tangles will host a free beauty event Saturday to raise money for honey bee research.
In recognition of National Honey Bee Day, the salon, which is located at 6030 Burke Commons Road, will offer guests free, complimentary beauty treatments that are bee-themed from 12-3 p.m.
Guests can choose from services such as relaxing paraffin wax treatments, sunny yellow mini-manicures, beehive up-dos and bright yellow eye makeup.

The inspiration for the event came from Hair and Makeup Artist Millie Singh, who created a beehive up-do that resembled a beehive after learning about Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), which occurs when worker bees from a bee colony disappear.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, CCD is a “serious problem threatening the health of honey bees and the economic stability of commercial beekeeping and pollination operations” in the U.S.

In addition to the free services, the salon will have a raffle where guests can win prizes. All money collected in the raffle will help fund honey bee research, according to a news release.
