Burke Lake Park To Host Inaugural 'Friendly' Ghost Town In October

Burke Lake Park's entire activity area will be transformed into a "friendly" ghost town from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.

BURKE, VA — The Fairfax County Park Authority is holding its inaugural Ghost Town event at Burke Lake Park, where the park’s entire activity area will be transformed into a "friendly" ghost town.

The event, which will celebrate the fun of Halloween "without the scares," will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 7315 Ox Road. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best costumes.

Online tickets are available in advance through Thursday, Oct. 27 for $15 per person. Day-of tickets may be purchased at the park for $20 per person, although advance tickets are recommended as the event is expected to sell out.

If you miss out on this year's Ghost Town at Burke Lake Park, the county said it plans to hold the Ghost Town event annually.

For the event, Burke Lake Park’s mini golf, birthday shelters, carousel, train and the activity area surrounding the ice cream parlor will be turned into a ghost town. The train ride will be called “The Frogwarts Express” and the carousel ride will be the “scare-o-sel.”

“It’s a grand spooktacular destined to become a local favorite this October,” the Fairfax County Parks Authority said.

Other activities will include a bounce house, magician, face painting, themed mini golf, pumpkin painting and a trick-or-treat house. Hidden Pond Nature Center will also be joining the event and will bring a reptile and amphibian interactive exhibit.

All Ghost Town activities are included in the price of admission. Food and beverage will be available at the ice cream parlor for an additional cost. There will not be a rain date if there is inclement weather. In case of weather-related cancellations, ticket holders will be reimbursed.
