Burke Man Dies After Van Driver With No License Crashes Into Him

A Burke man who was seriously injured in a crash on the Fairfax County Parkway in Newington in early September has died, police said.

NEWINGTON, VA — A Burke man who was seriously injured in a crash on the Fairfax County Parkway in Newington in early September has died, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

James Berry Gautier, 83, was driving north on the Fairfax County Parkway around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 in a Toyota Sienna when the driver of a large van crossed the parkway’s median and crashed into Gautier’s minivan. Gautier was taken to the hospital after the Sept. 8 and died last week, police said.

Mark Anthony Addison, 53, of Sterling was traveling south on the Fairfax County Parkway in a Chevrolet Express Van when he crossed the median and crashed into Gautier’s minivan. The impact of the crash also caused Addison’s Express Van to collide with a tractor-trailer that was also traveling north on Fairfax County Parkway.

Addison was charged with reckless driving and driving with no operator’s license or insurance, police said. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, according to the FCPD.
