First Hike Fairfax County Photo Contest Returns For 2024

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — The Fairfax County Park Authority is inviting residents to participate in its First Hike Fairfax 2024 Photo Contest.

Residents can take a photo of scenery, people, or pets and then submit them to the park authority. Photos must be taken on a Park Authority trail on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.

The contest is open to both amateur and professional photographers. Only one photo entry per person will be accepted (multiple family members may submit photos individually).

Photo submissions must be in JPG format, indicate the date they were taken, and be submitted in one of the following four categories: scenery/landscapes; people; wildlife; and pets.

Residents can win prizes in one of seven categories sponsored by the Fairfax County Park Foundation:

• People’s Choice: $100 Park Authority Gift Card
• Judges’ Choice: $100 Park Authority Gift Card
• Director’s Choice: $100 Park Authority Gift Card
• Best in Show (Scenery/Landscapes): $75 Park Authority Gift Card
• Best in Show (People): $75 Park Authority Gift Card
• Best in Show (Wildlife): $75 Park Authority Gift Card
• Best in Show (Pets): $75 Park Authority Gift Card

Photo submissions must clearly indicate the date and what Fairfax County Park Authority trail the photo was taken.

Submissions must be made online. A link will be posted on the Fairfax County Park Authority website by 7 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024 to submit your photo.
