Gas Leaks Reported In Burke, Vienna After Workers Strike Lines
The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department responded to natural gas leaks in Burke and the town of Vienna early Tuesday afternoon.

BURKE, VA — The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department responded to natural gas leaks in Burke and the town of Vienna early Tuesday afternoon.
The gas leak in Burke was reported in the 9600 block of Bronte Drive. A 2-inch-diameter gas pipeline was struck by workers, the fire department said.
Shortly after 1 p.m., the fire department said Washington Gas was on the scene and would be clamping the line.

In Vienna, fire units were sent to the scene of a natural gas leak in the 100 block of Tapawingo Road SE in Vienna. A 2-inch-diameter gas line had been ruptured by workers.
Due to the gas leak, Park Street was closed from Harmony Drive SE to Elmar Drive, SE, and Tapawingo Road was closed from Lullaby Lane S to Glyndon Street, SE, town of Vienna officials said.

At 1:45 p.m., the fire department said Washington Gas had stopped the leak.
