Greenspring, an Erickson Senior Living community in Springfield, Va., hosted a sensational event, SUMMERFEST, to mark the beginning of summer on June 7. At the festival, residents, staff, family, friends, and prospective residents enjoyed a day filled with excitement and fun.

Highlights included a car show with vehicles from 1916 to a current electric car, a live band showcasing the music of the Beach Boys and all things summer, homemade barbeque that was smoked for 48 hours, baked goods, a wide range of vendors, and more. Even SANTA showed up in his summer attire at Santa's Workshop!

The event also aimed to positively impact the community by organizing a food drive to support Ecumenical Community Helping Others (ECHO), a local non-profit organization. Attendees generously contributed 869 pounds of food to the cause, furthering Greenspring's commitment to giving back.

All proceeds from the event went to support the Greenspring Benevolent Care Fund, which provides confidential financial support to residents living at the community who, through no fault of their own, have outlived their resources. Thanks to the fund, no Greenspring resident has ever needed to leave their home within the community due to inability to pay, and residents have peace of mind in their home for life.

SUMMERFEST is just one of the many engaging community and philanthropic events organized by Greenspring Philanthropy throughout the year. These events form an integral part of the vibrant retirement lifestyle enjoyed by residents.
