BURKE, VA — Times have changed in Burke over the past 100 years. In the early 1900s, Burke was a place to go for horse races, baseball, boxing and jazz performances.

The Burke Historical Society is holding a special virtual event on Sunday where people can learn about the history of this area known as Old Burke Village.

Kathleen Jablonski lived in Burke for more than 28 years and used her research skills while earning her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in anthropology to investigate the Marshall-Brown Subdivision, which was established in 1907, and is now known as Old Burke Village.
