Learn About Tax Credits, Energy Rebates At Climate Action Conference

BURKE, VA — Braddock District Supervisor James Walkinshaw is hosting a Climate Action Conference on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Lake Braddock Secondary School, an event that will give residents a chance to learn how to reduce their carbon footprint while also saving money.
Local incentives, such as property tax deduction for solar energy and energy rebate programs offered by electric utilities, will be discussed at the inaugural conference. Residents will also get a chance to learn about new federal tax credits available through the Inflation Reduction Act.
“Fairfax County residents, businesses, non-profits, and faith communities can save thousands while doing their part to reduce emissions and fight climate change,” Walkinshaw said.

The Climate Action Conference, the first of its kind hosted by Walkinshaw, will feature U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11th), Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay, and Michael Forrester, assistant director of partnerships with the Office of State and Community Energy Programs at the U.S. Department of Energy.
Attendees will also get to learn about how to weatherize their homes, rooftop solar, and electric vehicles and charging stations.

The conference will take place at Lake Braddock Secondary School on Sept. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The school is located at 9200 Burke Lake Road in Burke.
While free of charge, the public should register for the Climate Action Conference to ensure a spot.
