Patriot District Golf Preview, Summer Restaurant Week

Five things to know in Burke today.

It's Thursday, Burke! That means the weekend is almost here. Here's a quick roundup of five things to keep in mind today.

  1. Today is the Golf Patriot Preview at Pohick Bay Regional Park. Every high school in the Patriot District, including Lake Braddock Secondary School and West Springfield High School, is participating. The park is located at 6501 Pohick Bay Dr. in Lorton.
  2. In case you missed it, Soda will be banned from vending machines at Lake Braddock Secondary School when school starts in a less than two weeks as part of a new pilot from from Fairfax County Public Schools.

  4. Speaking of bloggers, have you read a blog from one of your neighbors lately? Check out this one from Burke resident Wynn, who recently moved to Burke Centre and has started blogging about real estate.
  5. Did you know the Summer 2013 Restaurant Week is upon us? In fact, it's almost over. The annual event started s Monday. More than 200 restaurants in the greater Washington area are participating, including Falls Church’s 2941 Restaurant, Mad Fox Brewing  Company, Open Kitchen and Pizzeria Orso. Participating restaurants will offer three-course meals for a set price — $20.13 for lunch or $35.13 for dinner.
