VDOT To Hold Public Information Meeting On Braddock Road Project

VDOT is holding a public information meeting on Wednesday, July 26 to discuss planned changes along about three miles of Braddock Road.

BURKE, VA — The Virginia Department of Transportation is holding a public information meeting at Lake Braddock Secondary School on July 26 to discuss planned multimodal changes along three miles of Braddock Road.

The project area is on Braddock Road between Humphries Drive and Ravensworth Road, and along a half-mile of Ravensworth Road between Braddock Road and Heritage Drive. The project area also includes the eastbound and westbound Braddock Road ramps to southbound I-495.

"The project aims to improve multimodal safety, mobility and accessibility for all users," VDOT said.

The proposed work includes Braddock Road intersection improvement at Rolling Road, Burke Lake Road and Wakefield Chapel Road/Danbury Forest Drive. VDOT is also considering new and upgraded shared-use paths along both sides of Braddock Road.

The area of Braddock Road identified by VDOT averages about 61,000 vehicles a day, and the targeted Ravensworth Road area averages about 14,000 vehicles.

The public information meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Braddock Secondary School at 9200 Burke Lake Road. The public should enter the school through entrance 15.

A presentation will begin at 7 p.m. and VDOT project staff will be available to answer questions. Residents are encouraged to view a voiceover presentation or view a PDF presentation of the project.

The public can give feedback on the proposals through Monday, Aug. 7 by provide comments at the July 26 meeting, filling out an online comment form at virginiadot.org/BraddockMultimodal, or emailing VDOT at meetingcomments@vdot.virginia.gov.
