FAIRFAX, VA — The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has awarded a contract for construction of a new DMV Customer Service Center on Braddock Road in Fairfax.
Purchased by the Virginia DMV in 2015, the property is the site of the former Northern Virginia Training Center, which housed people with disabilities.
Linda Ford, acting commissioner of the Virginia DMV, informed Fairfax County government officials that a contract was awarded for construction of DMV’s Braddock Road Customer Service Center, according to Braddock District Supervisor James Walkinshaw.

The facility will be located on state-owned property at 9911 Braddock Road, east of Erickson Senior Living’s new Woodleigh Chase community.
Although an easement issue has temporarily delayed groundbreaking, the contractor has been ordering supplies needed for the project and is working with Fairfax County and Dominion Energy for utility needs, Walkinshaw said in his Aug. 18 update to residents in the Braddock District.
