Firefighter Blood Bank Needs Help

On April 8th, five Washington, D.C. firefighters were burned while battling a house fire.  All five were treated at the MedSTAR Burn Center at the Washington Hospital Center, where one still remains. As a result, the reserves of blood at the blood bank that supplies MedSTAR have been affected.

To help the Center, the Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics partnered with the Northern Virginia Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society to organize a blood drive. Appointments are available Friday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Fairfax County Fire Station 40 (4621 Legato Rd.). Click here to sign up.

The MedSTAR Burn Center at the Washington Hospital Center is one of the leading centers for burn treatment in the nation. All area firefighters go there if burned on the job.
