Centreville Students Win Art Awards

Centreville High School students were among the winners of the Regional Scholastic Art Awards program.

students were among the winners of the Regional Scholastic Art Awards program sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. Winning artwork will be on display at Northern Virginia Community College’s Ernst Community Cultural Center in Annandale from Friday, Feb. 10, through Thursday, Feb. 23. An awards ceremony for Gold and Silver Key winners is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m.

Gold Key award-winning entries will be submitted to the national Scholastic Art Awards competition, where students are awarded national Gold and Silver medals, as well as monetary awards and scholarships. Awards will be announced in April, and an exhibit of the national winners’ works will be on display in New York later this year.           

More than 250,000 students participate in the program on a regional basis, and more than 50,000 students receive regional awards and exhibition opportunities.
