Five Things to Know in Centreville This Week

2) On March 13, local historian will speak about the lives of the
Unionist civilians who lived in the decidedly pro-Confederate northern
Virginia area during the Civil War. The talk will be based on his book, The Civil War in Fairfax County: Civilians and Soldiers. The talk begins at 7 p.m. and the suggested donation is $5. It is part of an ongoing series at the every second Tuesday of March, April and May. For more information or to reserve a seat, call 703-437-1794.

4) The Centreville-based VTV Family Outreach Foundation is holding its second annual Rememberance Century Challenge and 32 mile ride next month. The cost is $100 and signups are open now. The ride starts in Blacksburg, Va. Omar Samaha, the brother of Centreville's Reema Samaha, who died in the April 7 attacks five years ago, will participate in the ride. 5) Sales have now begun for the mulch sale, which raises money to provide a safe, drug-and alcohol-free all night grad party for Westfield seniors and other PTSA programs.

Order online at the PTSA website. Spreading options are also available, for only $2 per bag, but in limited numbers. High-quality, double shredded mulch is only $4.95 per bag. $2.65 of that amount is tax-deductible. The minimum order for delivery is 15 bags.
