Five Things to Know in Centreville This Week

A roundup of what's going on in the community.

1. Come socialize with the  Wildcats football coaching staff March 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at . The proceeds will go to help purchase football equipment for the team. 

2. The CVHS Touchdown Club is holding a mulch spreading fundraiser. Orders must be in by April 11 and cost $4.85/bag. The Wildcats football team will spread the mulch for $2/bag for a minimum of 10 bags, or $20 per yard for bulk mulch on March 31, and April 1, 14, and 15. Visit www.cvhsmulch.org to order mulch that will benefit the class of 2012, or www.cvhstouchdownclub.com for spreading. 

3. Congratulations to the Fairfax chapter of the MATHCOUNTS competition program, represented by students at Rocky Run Middle School. After winning at the regional level, they will move on to compete at the state competition to be held on March 17 in Glen Allen. The students are Robin Park, Joie Wang, Rajat Khanna, Alec Zhang and led by coach Melanie Roller.

4. Sully District residents are invited to attend a meeting at the  on Tuesday, March 6, to discuss the Countywide Bicycle Transportation Plan.The begins at 6:30 p.m. Come learn what the county plans to develop bicycling options in the area, and share ideas about how to make the area more conducive to bicycling.

5. Young musicians from around the county will display their talents at Centreville High School this week, as CVHS hosts the . Come enjoy the music, free of charge, on March 8 and 9 anytime from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., or on Saturday, March 10, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
