Police Need Help to Find Pathway Flasher

Man has exposed himself several times to walkers along the trail, including young people.

Fairfax County Police are asking for the public's help to find a flasher who has established a pattern of exposing himself in the woods.

The man targeted the wooded trails near Virginia Run, and other areas, several times last year. He waited along the pathways and then would expose himself to people walking by—including underage victims.

As the weather reached unseasonably high temperatures this week and more people venture out on the trails, police sent out a notice to neighborhood watches and other groups. The man has typically struck in fair weather. Police asked that residents call 911 immediately if the flasher targets them.

Crime Prevention Officer Peter Katinsky stressed that it was important to call police as soon as possible after the crime, as police will have a much better chance of catching the perpetrator. Katinsky also urged residents to try and get a detailed facial description of the man, but warned that no one should try to confront him.

Neighbors who live on streets near the trails who spot any suspicious cars should contact police on the nonemergency line, 703-691-2131. A license plate number and description of the car would be helpful as well.
