Sully District Community Champion: Volunteer Fairfax Honors Yom Chu Kim

Sully District Supervisor Michael Frey nominated Yom Chu Kim as the 2013 Sully District Community Champion for his work with Centreville Day and the Centreville Immigration Forum.

Volunteer Fairfax on Thursday honored Yom Chu Kin as the 2013 Sully District Community Champion for his work on the Centreville Immigration Forum and Centreville Day celebration.

Kim has assisted with all aspects of planning, community outreach and implementation of the Centreville Day festival, according to Volunteer Fairfax, and has volunteered at the CIF for the last six years.

“The commitment that Mr. Kim provides to the Centreville Immigration Forum, the Centreville Days Foundation and the Korean Presbyterian Church enables our residents to find solutions to immigration-related issues and has enhanced the communication and strengthened relationships within the Sully District," Supervisor Michael Frey said in a press release.

"Mr. Kim’s dedication to the Centreville Days Foundation has helped to make Centreville Days a focal point for the Sully District community, and his work with the Korean Presbyterian Church has helped the Korean community become active in all aspects of life within Centreville and beyond,” Frey said.

Before the CIF had offices, Kim worked with his church, the Korean Presbyterian Church, to arrange temporary office space for the CIF. He regularly communicates the mission of the CIF to many other organizations throughout Centreville, according to Volunteer Fairfax.
