Tuesday Teas at Sully Offer Taste of Local History

The Sully Historic Site hosts afternoon tea every fourth Tuesday of the month.

On the fourth Tuesday of March, April and May, the hosts an afternoon tea with fun local facts thrown into the pot.

On March 27, sample traditional teas and home-grown American herbal teas. Learn to make a proper cup of tea, the right utensils to use and essential tea etiquette.

On April 24, celebrate Shakespeare Day with a traditional English tea of sweets and savories. Hear how tea has impacted history since William Shakespeare’s day. Listen to dramatic readings of the Bard’s work and try your hand at composing your own sonnet.

On May 22, examine hand-held fans similar to those used by men and women in the 18th and 19th centuries. Decorate your own fan to take home.

Teas are scheduled from 2—3:30 p.m. Light afternoon refreshments will accompany your cups of tea in the cozy atmosphere of Sully’s East Wing.
