Westfield Grads Play Baseball at JMU
Cole McInturff and Aaron Hoover will play Division I baseball at James Madison University this spring.
Junior outfielder Cole McInturff and freshman pitcher Aaron Hoover, both graduates of , will play NCAA Division I baseball this spring for the James Madison University (JMU) Dukes of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
As a sophomore, McInturff was ranked top 100 in the nation for steals per game and total steals. He was twelfth in the CAA with 47 runs, and seventh with 10 steals during 30 CAA league contests. As a Westfield Bulldog, McInturff helped the Bulldogs to a Concorde District title and achieved All-District honorable mention and All-Region outfielder.
As a senior at Westfield, Hoover was named Concorde District Pitcher of the Year. In 2011, the Washington Post named Hoover to the Washington Post First Team All-District, First Team All-Region, and Honorable Mention All-Met team. Hoover was named Hoover helped the Bulldogs win the Concorde District championship in 2010, and pitched a perfect game in the 2009 Concorde District playoffs that won the Concorde District. As a sophomore, Hoover was First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region when he set a school record with a 0.90 ERA in 46 2/3 innings.

The James Madison University Dukes placed first in the CAA in 2011 with an overall record of 42-19 and a league mark of 21-9. They won the CAA Championship in Wilmington, N.C., the program’s second league title, and followed the win with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional last June. It was the program’s best postseason finish since a 1983 trip to the College World Series in Omaha. The Dukes were picked as the league’s 2012 preseason favorite for the fourth consecutive year and are receiving votes in multiple preseason top 25 polls.
