Where to Celebrate 'St. Baldrick's Day' Locally

Shave your head to help fight childhood cancer, or just enjoy a good party.

It's that time of year again. There's shamrock decorations everywhere, folks wearing green clothing at the bar—and people getting their heads shaved at parties.

Welcome to the annual "St. Baldrick's Day" festival, a playful twist on St. Patrick's Day. Every year, thousands of people across the nation shave their heads to raise money for childhood cancer research. Proceeds from the events go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Volunteers last year raised $21 million nationwide.

For those who want to shave their heads—or just enjoy the festive atmosphere—there's plenty of opportunities nearby. in Centreville, for instance, already has 24 participants signed up, and so far raised $16,089 for the party on March 17.
