Chantilly Baseball Fields Get New Dugout Roofs, Courtesy of Moss Building & Design

Chantilly baseball and T-ball players will have brand new roofs on their dugouts Saturday, just in time for what should be a sunny opening-day celebration.

The dugout roofs at all three Chantilly Park baseball fields were in terrible shape but there was no money in the league’s budget to repair them. Moss Building & Design, a premier remodeler in Fairfax, became aware of the Chantilly Little League needs and knew they had the resources to easily replace the roofs. Not to mention it was a great way to give back to the community.

“We are so appreciative of Moss’ generosity in replacing the roofs of the children’s dugouts,” said Tom DeFranco, Chantilly Little League Director of Fundraising. “We are relieved to know that as the days get warmer the dugouts have new roofs to shelter out the sun.”

DeFranco added: “Moss’ involvement doesn’t surprise me, Moss has a history of community involvement not only as a good corporate citizen, but as a family-owned business that lives in our neighborhood. In fact, they are even sponsors of two of our teams — The AAA Red Wings and the Dodgers T-ball team.”

Moss was able to have the dugouts completed for this year’s opening day ceremony. Jason Hampel, co-owner of Moss, said: ”We are happy to be able to help out for such a good cause and we have plans to complete the rest of the dugouts next year.”

Moss’ staff will attend the opening ceremony Saturday to be part of the fun and to cheer on both of their sponsored teams.
