Corporate Social Responsibility Fair Features Local Nonprofits

Assistance League Takes Part In Event Sponsored by the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce

The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Corporate Social Responsibility Volunteer Fair recently that was hosted by Northwest Federal Credit Union, and co-produced with DATA, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, and the Greater Reston and Loudoun County Chambers of Commerce. The event showcased 38 local nonprofit organizations, and Assistance League of Northern Virginia was honored to be selected to participate.

The event allowed local nonprofits seeking corporate sponsors to connect with like-minded businesses seeking corporate volunteer outings and individual volunteer opportunities. After welcoming remarks that discussed the benefits of volunteerism and noted the businesses with social responsibility programs, both groups were able to assess the organizations that best aligned with their missions. Three Assistance League members happily spread the word about the nonprofit’s programs that address the basic needs of elementary school students by providing food, clothing, and literacy support. With 150 registrants participating, the members were able to speak with potential business volunteers and with other nonprofit organizations and made many important new connections.

This year, during the celebration of its 20th year of making impactful contributions in the community, Assistance League of Northern Virginia is especially grateful to all the sponsors of this inspiring event for the opportunity to become acquainted with so many socially responsible businesses and motivated individuals.
