UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm and Flash Flood Watch
Severe weather is expected for both Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. has been added for Fairfax County.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Flash Flood Watch for Fairfax and Loudoun counties from Noon today through this evening.
According to the NWS, showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and be numerous to widespread into early evening. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall.

The NWS says that a Flash Flood Watch "means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation."
