UPDATE: HazMat Called to Chantilly High

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Update: 9:10 p.m.

According to a statement released by Principal Teresa L. Johnson at Chantilly High, after an inspection by the Fire Marshall, the HazMat team and the Office of Safety and Security, the classroooms and HVAC system appeared normal. A hazardous substance or vapor was not found.

The Office of Safety and Security and the building engineer will continue to investigate the incident.

Dan Schmidt, spokesman for the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department, said that a 911 call was placed from Chantilly High at approximately 1:15 p.m. after an odor was smelled in a classroom.

HazMat is currently on the scene, and the team is investigating the incident. Schmidt also said that nobody is being treated for injuries at this time.
