CHANTILLY, VA—A man was killed Monday afternoon, June 25, while working at the site of the new Paul VI Catholic school in the 42300 block of Braddock Road near South Riding, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Feliciano Lopez, 34, of Chantilly, was pronounced dead at the scene.

While workers were digging footers for light poles around what will be the school's baseball field, Lopez fell into one of the holes around 3 p.m. Another worker fell into the hole while attempting to assist Lopez but wasn't seriously injured. The hole was approximately 10 feet deep and two feet wide.

Police say the fall wasn't witnessed but appears to be "a tragic accident." The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
