St. Veronica Catholic School in Chantilly Named a National Blue Ribbon School

St. Veronica Catholic School in Chantilly was recently named a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. 

The award honors public and private K-12 schools and is based on overall academic achievement and excellence. Only 50 private schools across the country each year are recognized with this award. St. Veronica Catholic School is one of only two schools in the Arlington Diocese to achieve this honor this year.

St. Veronica Catholic School was nominated for this award by the Council for American Private Education. According to a release sent out by St. Veronica Catholic School, each school applying for consideration must be established for a minimum of five years, be accredited by a recognized agency, and achieve standardized test scores in the top 15 percent of the nation.

As Secretary of Education Arne Duncan stated, "Excellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers. National Blue Ribbon schools represent examples of educational excellence, and their work reflects the belief that every child in America deserves a world-class education."

Representatives from St. Veronica Catholic School will be formally recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 18 and19.
