Arlington County's Worst Roads and Intersections

We asked, and you answered — in droves.

Patch received dozens of comments and entries about which intersections and stretches of road are the worst in Arlington.

The worst intersection, according to Patch readers, is where Washington Boulevard meets Wilson and Clarendon boulevards. Residents said the design of the streets and size of the intersection make walking and biking there difficult. 

"The timing on the lights is dangerous. When turning left onto Clarendon from Washington, the turn lane arrow doesn't last long enough for the first car to make it through the long intersection," one Patch reader said.

Another Patch reader said, "The large intersection allows left turns from all directions, but given its size, it's hard to tell if the person coming straight across from you is going straight or turning, particularly when coming off of Washington onto Wilson/Clarendon."

Dishonorable mention went to the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Lee Highway with Military Road/Quincy Street. Patch readers noted "confusing left turn options" and "poor timing of lights."

Dishonorable mention also went to Seven Corners — just west of the county line — and South 23rd Street at Jefferson Davis Highway.
