New Group Will Create Plan to Cut County's Carbon Footprint

A new Arlington County panel is expected to spend the next year and a half brainstorming an action plan the county needs to take to reduce the community's carbon footprint, the Sun Gazette reported Friday.
This group will likely include several members of the Community Energy & Sustainability Task Force, which will present its final report to the county board on May 17.

"That plan will detail how the government plans to reduce annual carbon-dioxide emissions from 13.4 metric tons in 2007 to 4.1 tons by 2040, and to cut that down to 2.2 metric tons by 2050 if regional cooperation can be found (or to 3 tons if no regional consensus is found)."
