The Great Escape: Brush 'N Blush

Your teens are babysitting for the neighbors on Saturday. Your parents have volunteered to watch the kids while you run errands on Sunday afternoon. Your tweens are glued to Glee on Tuesday evenings.  It’s your time. Take it. Looking for ways to spend it?

Each week, Patch throws out one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier!

Some of you reading this weekly column live in Arlington, but Patch has found a "Great Escape" this week that definitely worth crossing the Key Bridge for.

Located at 3210 Grace St. in Washington, Brush 'N Blush is a nifty Georgetown painting studio that allows you to work on a 16x20 inch masterpiece while relaxing with your friends and fellow classmates.

Don't have an artistic bone in your body? Don't worry! According to the studio's website, the "... instructors have developed a step-by-step system that can make an artist out of anyone and send you home with your very own masterpiece."

By the end of the session - and, yes, it only takes one class - you'll be walking out with a painting of cherry blossoms, or the Jefferson Memorial, or even Van Gogh's Starry Night!

The studio is currently working through zoning conflicts to allow the consumption of alcohol on site later this month - wouldn't that sweeten the deal?

A two-hour class costs $40; a three-hour class costs $50. Brush 'N Blush's March schedule is available online.
