Traffic Alert: I-395/95 HOV Lane Closures This Weekend

HOV lanes on I-395/95 will be closed from the D.C. line to the end of Dumfries Road (Route 234) from 11 p.m. Friday through 12 p.m. Sunday.

Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday night, the Virginia Department of Transportation plans to close I-395/95’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes from the Washington, D.C. line to the end at Dumfries Road (Route 234).

The HOV lanes will be closed for the installation of overhead structures, paving, and pulling fiber optic lines for the ongoing construction of the 95 Express Lanes Project. The express lanes are scheduled to open in December of this year.

The HOV lanes will reopen in the northbound direction on Sunday afternoon by 12 p.m. Until then, motorists will be directed to use the general purpose lanes.
