Dale City Man Charged With Assaulting Officer, Eluding

A Dale City man faces charges after he allegedly struck an officer after ignoring emergency equipment, Prince William County Police said.

Vincent Pierre Carter, 52, of Emberdale Drive, is charged with felony eluding, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

The officer tried to stop Carter's vehicle at 4:29 p.m. Sept. 21, near Danville Road and Darbydale Avenue.

"The driver, later identified as the accused, ignored the officer’s emergency equipment and continued to the 3000 block of Arkendale Stwhere the officer attempted to arrest him," police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said in a press release. "The accused actively resisted the officer leading to a physical altercation. At one point, the accused struck the officer to his shoulder."

Police later determined that Carter was under the influence of alcohol, Perok said. No one was injured.

Carter is held without bond pending an Oct. 23 court date.
