  1. A 77-year-old woman died after a house fire broke out in Dale City on Saturday night. The fire department arrived at the scene to see smoke and fire coming out of the house. The victim was rescued by firefighting crews but later died of her injuries at a nearby medical facility. Fire officials mentioned the home was not equipped with smoke detectors. (Patch)

Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism hosted its annual State of the Parks address, where Director Seth Hendler-Voss highlighted the department's accomplishments over the past year and plans for 2023, including the opening of a new 70-acre regional park called Rollins Ford Park, and planning for the 500-acre Doves Landing Park near Manassas. The department also mentioned numerous awards received in 2022, its successful summer camp season with 6,500 participants across 300 program offerings, and improvements to various parks throughout the county using American Rescue Plan

  3. Frank Adolf Mateo, a 60-year-old man, died after being shot during a domestic dispute with an 80-year-old family member at Fullerton Road in Dale City. The police arrived on the scene, provided first aid to Mateo until fire and rescue arrived, and detained the 80-year-old family member. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. (Inside NoVA)
