Alexandria Man Dies After Assault in DC: Report

Thomas Harris, 52, of Alexandria died Monday after hitting his head during an assault in the District on Sunday, according to a report this week in The Washington Post.
The incident took place Sunday afternoon just before 5 p.m. on New York Avenue NW in the District, according to the story.
Harris was assaulted by a man who threw him to the ground, according to a witness who saw the incident unfold and reported what she saw to police, the newspaper reported.

Harris hit his head and the woman and others came to his aid before he was transferred to a hospital.
Police did not have a description of the suspect.
