UPDATE: E. Reed Avenue 'Returning to Normal' After Barricade Situation, Police Say
Police said earlier Thursday that residents may hear "loud noises" from Alexandria Police Special Operations Team.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- After an hours-long standoff that began late Wednesday night, it appears a barricade situation on E. Reed Avenue has ended, according to police:
"UPDATE: APD breaking down the scene, slowly but surely. Suspect not in residence. Area returning to normal."
Alexandria Police sent out their latest update, that the area is returning to normal, at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday. No word yet on charges the suspect may be facing.

Police were investigating a weapons violations/shots fired call Thursday morning on E. Reed Avenue, that began around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
There are "no known injuries," police said.

About three hours later, at 1:47 a.m. Thursday, police said they are "handling the investigation on E. Reed Avenue as a barricade situation."
At 4:45 a.m., police said "Residents in area of E Reed may hear loud noises, those are being produced by APD Special Operations Team."
