The film tells the story of video game villain Wreck-It Ralph who longs to be a good guy instead. A hair-brained plan to insert himself as a hero in another video game sends his entire arcade into a panic.
The movie includes cameos from countless video game characters parents may remember from their arcade and console days.
Actors John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch lend their voice talents to the movie, which was nominated for Best Animated Feature at this year’s Academy Awards.
“More than in most animated films, the art design and color palette of ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ permit unlimited sets, costumes and rules, giving the movie tireless originality and different behavior in every different cyber world,” the late film critic Roger Ebert wrote in his 2012 review of the film. “Wreck-It Ralph, who seems not a million miles separate from Shrek, makes a lovable guide through this arcade universe.”
The PG-rated film runs 101 minutes. It grossed more than $470 million at the box office.
