Del Ray #1 Best-Selling ZIP Code in Northern VA: Report

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Del Ray comes in No. 1 in the 2015 real estate market in Northern Virginia, ranked at the top of the heap when it comes to the area's best-selling ZIP codes, according to a report by Northern Virginia Magazine.

The 22301 ZIP code came in first in 2015, the magazine notes, based on an increase in median house price and a quicker turnaround once homes were put on the market, according to the report. The area, the story notes, has it all -- from dining and shopping to housing choices for different demographics. Also, the magazine notes, the growth of this area has seen home prices jump 28 percent in a decade.

The numbers (from Dec. 21, 2015) tell the story:

• Median sale price: $700,000 (up 6%)
• Days on the market: 26 (up 4%)
• Units sold: 239 (up 6%)
