First Del Ray Garden Fest Planned This April Weekend
An event for all things gardening will include activities for adults and children this upcoming weekend in Del Ray.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — As plants and trees continue to bloom, Del Ray will have its first-ever gardening fest. The Del Ray Citizens Association is hosting GardenFest Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
GardenFest will be hosted at 2207 Mount Vernon Avenue with gardening demonstrations, informational booths and activities. Residents can learn different kinds of gardening practices, including at-home composting, native plant growing, beekeeping and more. Kids can join the fun with their own activities. A raffle will be held to support Charles Hill Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, and giveaways of seeds and seedlings are possible.
Participating organizations will include Del Ray Citizens Association, Del Ray Farmers Market and Power of Produce children's program, Northern Virginia Beekeepers Association, Grangel Farm, The Petaled Porch, Plant Swap, Garden Tea Cafe, Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia, River Farm /American Horticultural Society, Audubon at Home, Greenstreet Gardens, Beverly Hills Garden Club and The Dog Store.

The Del Ray Citizens Association is a membership-based nonprofit that informs residents and business owners about city happenings such as land use, public schools, safety, transportation, business and other city issues. Meetings are typically held monthly from September to June.
